Almost home from Germany …

Bamberg, Germany hosts an incredible annual flea market on German Unification Day.

Even five years ago, who would have ever thought that I could post this blog while flying high over the Atlantic Ocean on my way home from Germany.  It has been a jam-packed 12 days of incredible museums, wonderful food and new cultural experiences.  While there were many highlights, as an ornament and holiday collector, visits to the Rautis Czech ornament workshop along with the annual Bamberg Flea Markets were A+ experiences.  I will post much more but my laptop is just about out of power.  So, just adding a few images to this post with many more to come.

Bamberg is filled with historic architecture, quaint plazas and charming cobblestone streets and sidewalks.
Here are some German reflectors with liquid-filled centers. They really “sparkle” on the tree. I was so pleased that the rain cleared in the early afternoon and tables were uncovered once more. What a great flea market find!

Winter At The Beach …

View from our table at Eladio’s beach restaurant, Progreso, Yucantán, México

YES!  Celebrate365.com is open for business … but no shipping until mid-March.

This is our sixth year wintering in the Yucatán.  We are renting a beach home for seven weeks and are “living the life”.  Temps have been in the mid-80s with sunshine nearly every day.

Slow roast chicken pieces in banana leaves & marinate in sour oranges

Pollo Pibil (Pibil style chicken)

with achiote spices. It is a Yucatán speciality.  It is traditionally served with pickled onion.  Here is it presented with wedges of sour orange.  A hollowed onion serves as a serving vessel filled with the pickled onion bits.

Panuchos are a light snack or breakfast dish.  Another

Eladio’s Panuchos

traditional Yucatán creation, these are tortilla filled with black beans. Then they are topped with fresh vegetables.  Here we have lettuce, cabbage, shredded turkey, tomato, pickled red onion, English cucumber, avocado.

Follow our lazy days on the beach … away from Ohio’s cold and snow.  And look for previews of the 2017 lines in the coming days.  I am editing the web site to reflect current inventory levels and I am indicating styles that have been discontinued.  Feel free to ask me questions … I am “connected”!

It’s A Mini Sale … Act Quickly!

Give yourself the gift you really wanted!

Still have room on the tree? We can help!  Celebrate365.com still has a large stock of European artisan-crafted ornaments.  Why not give yourself a gift?

In addition, the shop will be closing soon for the winter.  We will be leaving behind the Midwest’s winter cold in favor of sun and sand in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.  We will be away for 7 weeks and the store will be closed during that time.

Follow this blog as well as the Celebrate365 Facebook page to see what life is like for us in the Yucatan area. I taught high school Spanish for 26 years but I never envisioned a retirement perk quite like this!
