Thomas Glenn Holidays Ornament, De Stijl
De Stijl (Dutch for “the style) is an art and design movement that followed World War I. Centered in the Netherlands, Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg led that way in simplifying design to the basics: vertical and horizontal lines and primary colors.
Thomas Glenn Holdays’ interpretation features a fully glittered white ball with just such a basic design. A “sculpure” of rectangles and squares spans both sides. Black rod-like lines appear to support the colorful geometric figures.
