Who is Krampus?

According to popular legend, in southern Germany and Austria, Krampus is a half-goat, half-devil who punishes misbehaving children during the Christmas season. He parades with St. Nicholas during holiday celebrations.

Krampus is believed to have originated in Germany and his name comes form the German word “Krampen” which mean “claw.”

This little Polish-made Krampus is dressed in black, has prominent red horns and a long red tongue swishing from his mouth. A sturdy metal belt encircles his waist, chaining his hands. And, per tradition, his feet resemble the hoofs of a goat.
