Lehenga Choli, is a traditional Indian woman’s three-piece outfit. It is customarily worn on special occasions such as weddings, festivals, and family functions. Elaborate lehenga cholis are widely popular bridal attire.
In this ornament example, the De Carlini workshop recreates the three customary pieces of this wardrobe staple. The “choli”, or fitted blouse, is embroidered with silver brocade-like stitching. Her “lehenga”, or long skirt, is also sewn from a richly embroidered lavender fabric. It hangs from the waist leaving the lower back and midriff bare. Finally, a “duppatta” (drape) completes the ensemble. The fashionable lady accessorizes her traditional costume with bangles on both wrists and a jeweled bindi on her forehead. What kind of celebration do you imagine she's attending? Wherever the party is, it looks like there's dancing!
