PIQUA, OH- Apple Tree Gallery, downtown Piqua’s 365-day Christmas and Halloween store, will be hosting a unique educational and shopping event on Saturday, April 13<\/strong>. \u00a0Area collectors are invited to attend.<\/td>\n\"\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The store, located at 405 N. Main St., will host the first-ever OhioAntique Christmas meet in partnership with the Golden Glow of Christmas Past<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The Glow <\/em>is an international collecting organization whose members specialize in anything<\/em> Christmas as long as the item was made before 1966.Click image posters to enlarge …<\/em><\/strong>\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Mark Saturday April 13<\/strong> on your calendar.\u00a0 The event will be open from 10 am through 3 pm.\u00a0 Twenty-two Golden Glow vendors will be on hand offering merchandise from all holidays, not just Christmas.\u00a0 And the items for sale will range from antique, vintage and current holiday merchandise.\u00a0 Shoppers will find everything from vintage holiday postcards, aluminum Christmas trees to contemporary ornaments from Patricia Breen, Christopher Radko and Mattarusky.\u00a0 In addition, Apple Tree\u2019s galleries of holiday collectibles will be open to shoppers.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Glohio\u2019s<\/em> event won\u2019t be just about shopping.\u00a0 It\u2019s also a unique educational opportunity.\u00a0 Glow members will offer three focused lectures along with one make-it, take-it <\/em>workshop.\u00a0 Former Glow president Mike Ciancio will speak about Thomas Nast and the Christmas illustrations for which is he famous.\u00a0 What would the Christmas tree be without lights?\u00a0 Greg Gregory will offer a brief history of \u201clighting\u201d the tree from candlelight to electric lights.\u00a0 What about the toys under<\/em> the tree?\u00a0 Jim Thomas will talk about Germany\u2019s Erzgebirge region and one of its best-known Christmas antiques, the wooden Noah\u2019s Ark.\u00a0 Nikki Beltz will let visitors try their hand at making vintage-style Moravian stars.\u00a0 Learn how simple strips of paper can be folded and woven into a three-dimensional star that German families used to decorate their Christmas trees.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

This first meeting of the Ohio Chapter of the Golden Glow of Christmas Past is expected to draw visitors and exhibitors from surrounding states including Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York and Indiana.
