Product Details
The Ludell Opera Collection is a series of five leading ladies from famous operas by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. These ornaments were created as a collaboration between Luca Dell'Innocenti (of Ludell) and Soffieria De Carlini. They are a wonderful tribute--and a great way to bring a bit of the opera home. So stunning, you'll surely want them all!
Turandot was Giacomo Puccini's last opera and actually incomplete at the time of his death in November 1924, but contains one of the most famous arias ever written: "Nessun Dorma." Following Puccini's death, his friend and conductor Arturo Toscanini recommended that composer Franco Alfano finish the piece; it premiered in April 1926. The opera tells the story of Turandot, a Peking princess who challenges her suitors with a series of riddles. Any who fail to answer correctly are sentenced to death.
This beautiful princess Turandot wears an extravagant formal court robe, collar and headdress, or phoenix crown. The red and gold robe is made with long, voluminous sleeves. Her headdress, collar and robe are all adorned with jewels and glitter, as befits Turandot's stature as princess.
